Landfill/Site Investigations

Investigations include reviewing sampling data for monitoring wells and landfill gas measurements, evaluation and identification of data trends. Data are used to define groundwater quality including aquifer conditions, water levels, and site characteristics.
Landfill Site Investigation
  • MAJOR OIL STORAGE FACILITY (MOSF) SITE INVESTIGATION AND REMEDIAL ALTERNATIVES PLAN – Town of Lloyd, NY
    • Review existing Phase I and Phase II studies and related environmental data to develop a supplemental site investigation sampling plan. Obtain and review groundwater sampling and soil sampling data for exceedence of relevant standards. Compiled data into summary reports for review by NYSDEC. Prepared required applications for NYSDEC and EPA Brownsfields grant programs. Prepared Remedial Alternatives Report (RAR) describing proposed containment methods and assorted cost estimates.
  • DUTCHESS COUNTY AIRPORT LANDFILL, JOINT LANDFILL BOARD OF GOVERNORS – City and Town of Poughkeepsie, Town of LaGrange, Town of Wappinger, Village of Wappingers Falls, NY
    • Principal member of a consultant team responsible for formerly closed municipal landfill. Performed site investigation duties including: Landfill location and extent, water quality monitoring, leachate management issues. Arranged contractor for site construction activities and monitored progress for an approximate 10 million dollar capital project. Coordinated meetings with Town officials, their consultants, county officials and NYSDEC personnel regarding development of updated closure plan and related construction certification activities. Responsible for post-closure operations, maintenance and monitoring during the 30 year post-closure period.
  • SITE INVESTIGATION FOR URBAN DEVELOPMENT PROJECT – City of Hudson, NY
    • Site was located adjacent to an existing salvage yard that had some known environmental contamination issues. Project included development of soil sampling plan and related site investigation. Fieldwork included site reconnaissance, soil sampling and supervision of asbestos surveys.
  • FISHKILL/EAST FISHKILL LANDFILL – Town of Fishkill, NY
    • Complete responsibility for preparation of closure plan including installation of quality assurance and quality control programs related to closure. Installated leachate collection chamber and design of leachate management techniques. Supervision of leachate hauling. Total responsibility for the monitoring, maintenance and NYSDEC mandated reports.
    • Design and approvals for the Artificial Wetland Treatment System for leachate treatment to avoid the hauling of leachate.
  • BEACON LANDFILL – City of Beacon, NY
    • Responsible for design of closure plan including site grading, earthwork and perimeter construction. Responsible for introduction of site re-contouring material to satisfy sub-grade contouring required. Prepared use of petroleum contaminated soils re-use program to build slope, which allowed City of Beacon to charge hauling fee from contractor. Also contracted to use city employees for “force account” labor again constituting considerable savings. Responsible for all inter-face with city officials and NYSDEC officials. Responsible for substantial savings for city by preparing separate specifications for equipment and materials contractor.
